Implications of Jupiter Inward Gas-driven Migration for the Inner Solar System

چکیده
Abstract The migration history of Jupiter in the Sun’s natal disk remains poorly constrained. Here we consider how Jupiter’s affects small-body reservoirs and this constrains its original orbital distance from Sun. We study implications large-scale inward radial for inner solar system while considering effects collisional evolution planetesimals. use analytical prescriptions to simulate growth gas disk. assume existence a planetesimal inside initial orbit. This received an total mass size–frequency distribution (SFD). Planetesimals feel aerodynamic drag collide with one another, mostly shepherded by migrating Jupiter. Our main goal is measure amount planetesimals implanted into asteroid belt (MAB) SFD population. also monitor dust produced during collisions. find that population MAB tends resemble interior unless very little or no existed between 5 au orbit, it would be difficult reconcile current low possibility migrated distances beyond 15 au. because fraction gets large. Finally, discuss our results terms production so-called NC–CC isotopic dichotomy.

Origins of Solar System Dust Beyond Jupiter
The measurements of cosmic interplanetary dust by the instruments on board the Pioneer 10 and 11 spacecraft contain the dynamical signature of dust generated by Edgeworth-Kuiper Belt objects, as well as short period Oort Cloud comets and short period Jupiter family comets. While the dust concentration detected between Jupiter and Saturn is mainly due to the cometary components, the dust outside...
متن کاملDynamical erosion of the asteroid belt and implications for large impacts in the inner solar system
The cumulative effects of weak resonant and secular perturbations by the major planets produce chaotic behavior of asteroids on long timescales. Dynamical chaos is the dominant loss mechanism for asteroids with diameters D & 10 km in the current asteroid belt. In a numerical analysis of the long term evolution of test particles in the main asteroid belt region, we find that the dynamical loss h...
متن کاملThe development and assessment of solar-driven Tri-generation system energy and optimization of criteria comparison
In this research, the thermodynamic investigation of the tri-generation system is performed by the first and second law of Thermodynamics. The trigeneration system under study consists of three subsystems including the solar subsystem, Kalina subsystem and lithium bromide-water absorption chiller subsystem. The proposed system generates power, cooling and hot water using solar energy. The syste...
متن کاملMagma Oceans in the Inner Solar System
Theory and observations point to the occurrence of magma ponds or oceans in the early evolution of terrestrial planets and in many early-accreting planetesimals. The apparent ubiquity of melting during giant accretionary impacts suggests that silicate and metallic material may be processed through multiplemagma oceans before reaching solidity in a planet. The processes of magma ocean formation ...
متن کاملPlanetary accretion in the inner Solar System
Unlike gas-giant planets, we lack examples of terrestrial planets orbiting other Sun-like stars to help us understand how they formed. We can draw hints from elsewhere though. Astronomical observations of young stars; the chemical and isotopic compositions of Earth, Mars and meteorites; and the structure of the Solar System all provide clues to how the inner rocky planets formed. These data hav...
